C’est à un joli moment de contes que nous convie, pour quelques représentations, Henri Gougaud. Un moment simple, généreux, à l’occasion duquel cet infatigable passeur d’histoires nous montre la voie de ses territoires imaginaires. Des territoires profonds, mais aussi souriants, liés aux choses de la chair et de l’amour. Pour reprendre les propres termes du poète, il est ici question « [de] désir, [de] l’accointance entre homme et femme, [de] l’appétit de jouissance, bref [du] bon usage de ce que le Créateur nous a mis au carrefour des jambes et du ventre ». Pour éviter tout malentendu, précisons sans attendre que cette proposition conçue comme une collaboration artistique entre Henri Gougaud et le metteur en scène–marionnettiste Ezéquiel Garcia-Romeu (qui en signe la mise en espace) est loin de rendre justice au talent de ce dernier (son Anagrammes pour Faust, spectacle créé en 2008 au Théâtre de La Commune, ouvrait sur des perspectives captivantes*). Intervenant lors de brefs interludes servant de ponts entre les différents contes, Ezéquiel Garcia-Romeu donne aujourd’hui l’étrange impression de bricoler.
Le monde foisonnant des jubilations orales
Dans L’Arbre d’Amour, le marionnettiste ne parvient en effet jamais à engendrer le moindre moment d’inspiration, la moindre évidence théâtrale. Ce n’est donc pas pour lui que l’on se rendra au Grand Parquet, mais bien pour son partenaire de scène qui s’illustre dans une performance, elle, en tout point exemplaire. La performance d’un formidable orateur, mais également d’un remarquable écrivain, les textes présentés de ce spectacle révélant une grande qualité littéraire. Un style, une voix, un regard, un sens de la relation… Depuis le centre de l’espace scénique, faisant preuve d’une bonne humeur communicative (le public, immédiatement conquis, ne manque pas une occasion de répondre aux appels du conteur), Henri Gougaud nous promène à travers toutes sortes d’histoires, nous introduit auprès de toutes sortes de personnages. « S’il n’est pas fou l’amour n’est rien, déclare l’un d’entre eux. Mais, il faut bien qu’il soit vivable. Mystérieux, certes, mais humain. Sinon, à quoi bon l’espérer… » Vecteurs d’images d’une lucidité saisissante, ces personnages de contes jalonnent un monde qu’Henri Gougaud sillonne depuis près de 40 ans : « le monde foisonnant des jubilations orales ».
