« Mon idée n’est pas de séduire le public avec de la musique, une belle lumière, un décor fantastique. Je veux que le public soit séduit par son esprit critique, que la pièce ait un effet sur lui. », confiait Lars Norén à Bernard Debroux dans le n° 94-95 d’Alternatives théâtrales. Créée en 2007, A la mémoire d’Anna Potitkovskaïa est fidèle à ce projet fondamental : une pièce coup de poing sur les ravages du conflit tchétchène, dans laquelle Lars Norén rend hommage à la journaliste russe assassinée en octobre 2006. Bien qu’il ait écrit cette pièce avant la mort d’Anna Politkovskaïa, le dramaturge a souhaité associer son nom à ce texte. Ceci, afin « que le public se souvienne de sa force, de son courage et de sa façon d’évoquer les effets et les ravages de la guerre sur les êtres humains ». « C’est une pièce courte et terrible, affirme-t-il, la pire que j’ai écrite. » Une pièce « totalement noire et drôle », qui dépeint le quotidien d’une population en perte totale de valeurs. Approfondissant ses recherches sur les raisons qui peuvent amener l’homme à vouloir survivre ou cesser de se battre, Lars Norén y continue d’investir les limites de la déshumanisation.
Questionner le théâtre et le monde
« J’aime les textes dramatiques qui questionnent autant le théâtre que le monde. Chez Lars Norén, ce qui me touche, c’est que son théâtre lie en permanence l’intime et le politique. A partir d’un réalisme décalé, onirique, Norén fait dériver le quotidien en le recomposant sur le plateau. Son écriture transcende le constat, dépasse la misère du monde pour accéder à une forme d’ironie. », dit Jean-Louis Martinelli pour expliquer son attachement à l’œuvre du grand dramaturge suédois qu’il invite régulièrement dans sa maison des Amandiers. Début novembre, avec Kliniken, Martinelli rend une nouvelle fois compte du regard décapant que l’auteur suédois porte sur le monde, en l’investissant hors de tout voyeurisme et de tout misérabilisme, en s’attachant à être simplement le témoin des processus d’exclusion et de marginalisation que cette pièce anguleuse met au jour. Une dépressive, un schizophrène, un demandeur d’asile, une anorexique, un séropositif… Tous sont reclus au sein d’une clinique psychiatrique, vivant « dans leur bulle et tournant autour de leur propre nombril ». Tous incarnent, à leur manière, les maux et les impasses d’une société dont ils ont été exclus et dont ce théâtre sans pareil sait si bien se faire le révélateur.
