ÉGLISE SAINT-EUSTACHE
Gérard Pesson, compositeur-orfèvre, artisan minutieux, cultive un rapport étroit et singulier à l’histoire. Loin d’être adepte du « retour à… », il écrit volontiers « dans le style ancien », ce qui, on le sait, laisse aux faussaires, dont la pratique s’élève parfois au rang des beaux-arts, autant de latitude dans l’érudition que dans la fantaisie créatrice. Ainsi, la transcription pour chœur amène Gérard Pesson à émailler l’adagietto de la 5e Symphonie de Mahler (à l’aide d’un poème d’August von Platen) ou à reproduire par les voix les couleurs de l’orchestre de Ravel (Shéhérazade, Ronsard à son âme), qui lui aussi s’y connaissait en maîtres anciens. Intercalées entre ces pages, ses propres Chants populaires et une création sur des poèmes de Jean D’Amérique dirigés par Léo Warynski à la tête de l’ensemble Les Métaboles, quelques pièces instrumentales du compositeur, où s’exprime aussi ce lien ténu entre invention et mémoire.
