Qu’est ce qui vous motive à jouer avec un slameur ?
Laure Favre-Kahn : J’ai envie de bousculer le milieu classique, qui me paraît rigide. C’est à notre génération de le faire. Il nous faut attirer un nouveau public, notamment les jeunes. L’image du classique reste austère, elle n’évolue pas assez vite. Personnellement, ce type de projet me procure énormément de plaisir, car il m’ouvre sur d’autres horizons artistiques. Je pense que, dès l’enfance, il faudrait travailler l’improvisation.
Pourquoi avoir choisi de jouer uniquement des préludes ?
L. F.-K. : Je suis très sensible aux formes courtes. Je souhaitais créer un voyage avec le prélude, montrer comment il a évolué de Bach à Messiaen. Ces morceaux permettent aussi de dresser de petits portraits des compositeurs, de montrer, avec trois ou quatre préludes, leurs esthétiques. Il y a beaucoup de climats différents dans ces pièces, qui offrent l’occasion au slameur d’improviser sur des couleurs variées. Par la suite, j’aimerais travailler sur une autre forme : la valse.
Vous êtes régulièrement invité aux Flâneries de Reims. Quel est l’esprit de ce festival ?
L. F.-K. : C’est une grande famille réunie autour de son directeur, Hervé Corre de Valmalete, qui est aussi mon agent. L’équipe et le public sont fidèles. Les salles sont pleines à craquer, car les concerts sont gratuits ou à bas prix. La ville est vraiment en ébullition. J’y joue aussi bien en solo, en musique de chambre qu’avec orchestre. Par ailleurs, c’est à Reims que j’ai enregistré mes disques en live pour le label Transart, également développé par Hervé Corre de Valmalete. Je ne raterais ce festival pour rien au monde !
