Traiter de la guerre en musique, telle est la démarche du compositeur libanais Zad Moultaka. Son œuvre se fait l’écho des drames de son pays et, au-delà, des tensions du Proche-Orient. Lors de sa résidence à Royaumont, nous avons pu apprécier, dans ses partitions, tout à la fois la violence de l’expression et l’économie des moyens employés. Au Festival d’Avignon, les ensembles Musicatreize et Mezwej interprètent, sous la direction de Roland Hayrabedian, sa pièce L’Autre Rive. Donnée en création mondiale, cette partition réunit douze chanteurs et quatre instrumentistes autour de la notion de frontière. Les musiciens seront répartis en deux espaces, et le public sera même amené à changer de lieu au cours de la représentation. Une œuvre puissante, d’une durée d’une heure (chose rare dans la création contemporaine), qui sera reprise à la rentrée à Marseille, Toulon, Arles, Royaumont, Metz et Grenoble.
