L’hôpital, la maladie, l’ombre d’une fin qui s’invite sans être attendue… Si la pièce de Rodrigo García traite de la perspective de la mort, elle le fait en restant du côté de la vie, en se demandant comment on continue d’avancer lorsqu’on a été à deux doigts de mourir. « Il y a une énergie et une vitalité salutaires dans cette façon de provoquer et de sonner le tocsin pour réveiller les consciences assoupies, fait observer Christophe Perton. La langue et la puissance du chant qui s’y déploient ont quelque chose d’incomparable, comme une invocation intime et intense, un engagement chuchoté que l’on prendrait sur le fil du rasoir quand le jour qui vient peut aussi bien vous précipiter vers le néant que vous offrir encore quelque temps pour vivre ». Incarnée, sur la scène du Rond-Point, par Vincent Dissez, Judith Henry et Anne Tismer, L’Avantage avec les animaux… tonne comme « une ode enragée à la vie ». Comme un « texte libre et débridé » qui vise à réinterroger notre condition d’êtres humains.
