« Voici la scène du meurtre telle que je l’ai vécue. Je suis debout en robe de chambre au pied de mon lit dans notre appartement de l’Ecole Normale un jour gris de Novembre. C’était le dimanche 16 à 9h du matin ». Ce jour-là, croyant lui caresser le cou, Louis Althusser tue sa femme. Reconnu non responsable de son acte, parce qu’atteint de démence au moment de celui-ci, Louis Althusser entame cinq ans plus tard une autobiographie qui ne sera publiée qu’après sa mort. Son enjeu : retrouver une identité et « redevenir responsable de sa vie ».
Une plongée dans la nuit
Ayant perdu avec sa femme son « seul point fixe dans cette mer sans horizon », le philosophe interprété avec une intensité toute intérieure par Angelo Bison, revient sur les signes annonciateurs de la catastrophe. Une mère abusive, la relation passionnée avec Hélène, les crises maniaco-dépressives. Il offre ainsi, non pas une justification, mais une plongée dans la nuit qui borde chacune de nos vies. Une performance mise en scène par Michel Bernard, animée de projections discrètes, qui offre le témoignage brut, nu, d’un grand esprit penché au-dessus du vide.
