Théâtre des Quartiers d’Ivry / de John Millington Synge / mes Elisabeth Chailloux
Un jeune homme en fuite, qui déclare avoir tué son père à coups de bêche, devient le héros d’un village, au sein duquel il trouve refuge. Il est fêté comme un être prodigieux. « Tous les hommes l’admirent, fait observer Elisabeth Chailloux, les femmes tombent amoureuses de lui. » Mais lorsque, découvrant que son père n’est que blessé, il tente de le tuer une nouvelle fois, le baladin du monde occidental tombe subitement de son piédestal. « Après L’Illusion comique*, explique la metteure en scène, j’ai ressenti le désir de travailler encore une fois sur une langue inouïe, de visiter à nouveau le monde de l’illusion et de la magie des mots, de faire vibrer le public avec l’histoire de Christy, le parricide merveilleux. » En dehors de tout cadre réaliste, le spectacle d’Elisabeth Chailloux nous plonge dans un « univers de vents et de tempêtes ». « J’ai vraiment tenu à faire naître l’idée d’une Irlande poétique et intérieure, déclare-t-elle. Cela, en travaillant sur les notions de suspens et de fantastique. Le Baladin du monde occidental a tout pour faire vibrer et faire rêver les spectateurs, tout pour les entraîner dans la jubilation des mots et la beauté de l’illusion théâtrale. »
