À côté du processus de la violence ordinaire, Le Bouc de Fassbinder explore le cheminement d’un couple de criminels, fascinés par les thèses nazies. La pièce raconte l’arrivée d’un immigré grec au sein de l’Allemagne de l’après-guerre. En argot, le bouc désigne l’immigré ; c’est aussi celui qu’on sacrifiait rituellement dans les premiers temps du théâtre grec. Ainsi, la scène se situe à l’intérieur d’une banlieue aux mentalités étroites, aux médisances faciles et à la misère concrète. Ce monde fermé où l’on s’ennuie dur est bouleversé par l’arrivée du jeune Grec Jorgos, victime expiatoire à venir où se cristallisent toutes les jalousies, les convoitises et la haine violente de ceux qui éprouvent une insatisfaction crasse à vivre dans ce monde-là. Les garçons rêvent de rouer de coups le nouveau venu tandis que les filles en tombent amoureuses. Pour le metteur en scène, cette pièce interroge non seulement la société, mais encore le théâtre à travers la manière de le pratiquer en groupe et en troupe, ce que fait déjà à merveille l’enthousiaste Guillaume Vincent.
