A l’instar de Don Quichotte qui se rêve en chevalier redresseur de torts, le Bourgeois Gentilhomme de Molière se lance dans une quête qui transcende sa condition : celle de se cultiver. Isabelle Starkier voit ainsi en Monsieur Jourdain un autre rêveur d’impossible, « qui nous interroge sur le dépassement des limites qu’engendre notre héritage social et qui fuit l’entre-soi pour s’ouvrir à l’Autre ». Avec une belle troupe, dont Daniel Jean dans le rôle-titre, la mise en scène orchestre la comédie des faux-semblants dans une atmosphère haute en couleur et burlesque, où la composition musicale s’inspire des films hollywoodiens des années 1950-1970 et privilégie le chant. Entre diktat du paraître et désir sincère de s’élever, la comédie trace un chemin festif qui moque les moqueurs !
