Quel plaisir ! Voilà du théâtre généreux, exigeant, sans chichi ni emphase, qui débarbouille la langue de Molière du fard des conventions de matinées scolaires pour lui redonner tout son éclat effronté. Eric Louis et la joyeuse bande de la compagnie « La Nuit surprise par le jour » embarquent pour une traversée de l’œuvre du père de l’Illustre Théâtre où la vie de la troupe se mélange à la scène. Première étape de cette trilogie au long cours : Les précieuses ridicules, farce que Molière écrivit en 1659, un an après avoir lui-même débarqué à Paris, pour railler à grands traits la bêtise infatuée des mœurs de salons qui se donnent des manières de beaux esprits. Pour Cathos ou Magdelon, les deux précieuses qui ont éconduit sans égard leurs prétendants (les sots venaient benoîtement chercher le tribut de leur mariage arrangé !), le tour sera aussi cinglant que comique. Il faut entendre leur diatribe, outrée jusqu’à pourprer leur minois pommadé, contre ces deux rustres qui piétinent sans vergogne les délicats sentiers de la Carte du Tendre, qui osent, comble d’infâme outrecuidance, négliger rubans et plumes dans leur mise. Ne connaissent-ils pas le protocole amoureux, ne savent-ils pas qu’il faut débiter les beaux sentiments, pousser le doux, le tendre et le passionné pour mériter le titre de galant ?
L’aventure du théâtre
La Grange et Du Croisy sauront se venger de ces deux donzelles de province, trop pressées de masquer leur ignorance dans les plissés d’une langue à jabot… Et on se régale de voir ces pécores trop poudrées se pâmer devant les vers de mirliton du marquis de Mascarille ou tâter les cicatrices bien mal placées du vicomte de Jodelet, tous deux valets de leur état véritable. Car la mise en scène d’Eric Louis regorge de trouvailles, d’impertinences et de savoureuses clowneries. Elle surprend sans cesse les attendus de la représentation en démontant les vieux archétypes et en bousculant la fiction par des effets de réel. Ce souffle libertaire fait claquer la farce de Molière, qui rosse l’oppression des cœurs dans le mariage forcé aussi sévèrement que les cuistres de salons et les têtes de linotte. Les comédiens – tous épatants – passent sans frontière du rôle de personnage à celui d’acteur, unissant la scène et le hors-scène dans un même jeu. Car en parallèle se joue une autre histoire, celle d’une troupe qui se constitue, découvre le plaisir des planches et se lance dans l’aventure des tréteaux. Avec un petit plateau, trois pendrillons et quelques accessoires, ils bricolent un théâtre ludique, insolent, qui se crée avec la connivence du public et empruntent autant aux bateleurs d’autrefois qu’au péplum de BD et aux émissions de variétés. Un vrai théâtre populaire d’aujourd’hui.
