« Il était une fois. J’aurais aimé vous raconter une histoire qui commence par il était une fois, parce que les histoires qui commencent de même finissent bien. » Le ton est immédiatement donné : Le Boxeur est un drame. Un drame en dix rounds et un chaos qui nous place face à l’existence douloureuse d’un boxeur. Ce dernier, venant du Québec, n’a pas choisi la boxe par goût, par passion, mais pour tenter de trouver une réponse aux moqueries et au rejet du monde, pour oublier son poids, sa taille et le regard des autres. Mais, un jour, il en viendra à cogner trop fort… Centré autour de la problématique de l’obésité, le spectacle de Patric Saucier parle plus généralement de toutes les discriminations physiques. Trop gros, trop maigrichons, trop quoi que ce soit : Boxeur met en lumière toutes celles et tous ceux qui, un jour, ont été marginalisés en raison de leur apparence.
