La mère d’abord, « abîmée par le temps, jetée comme un déchet sur un trottoir » ; la fille, ensuite, prise entre crainte et désir des interdits absolus ; celui qui questionne et torture, enfin, et figure l’ordre tentant de maintenir ses effets. Trois comédiens pour incarner ces personnages qui se débattent entre « matricide, infanticide, inceste et autre dévoration » : la sublime Claude Degliame, la jeune Vimala Pons à « l’âme osée » et Eugène Durif pour mettre en paradoxe la dureté du juge de ce procès. Adepte d’un théâtre qui ose faire tenir ensemble dévoilement et mystère, rétif à la facilité du mensonge et jouant de la pudeur et de l’élégance du masque et du jeu, Jean-Michel Rabeux interroge autant les mots que la condition humaine pour tâcher d’en explorer l’infinie complexité et la tragédie continuée.
