Autoproclamé « cabaret expressionniste », le Cirque des mirages compose des spectacles dont la qualité scénique et vocale est exceptionnelle et dont la beauté musicale rivalise avec l’intelligence et la poésie des paroles. Artistes complets, Parker et Yanowski ne se contentent pas d’un vulgaire tour de chant. Ils créent ensemble des périples dans le temps qui empruntent leurs motifs à l’art et à la littérature, qui explorent l’humain dans ses failles les plus sombres. Ils titillent l’inconscient, les pulsions, les désirs inavouables avec un talent extrêmement subtil, parvenant à s’inscrire dans une veine dont ils sont les héritiers sans en être les dévots testamentaires. Car l’originalité prime systématiquement dans les créations de ces deux artistes inclassables qui ne copient rien de ce qui les inspire et préfèrent la liberté à l’inscription servile dans les codes sucrés et débilitants de la chanson contemporaine.
Un spectacle en forme d’expérience fantastique et hallucinatoire
Sorte d’étonnants voyageurs qui auraient pérégriné dans les bas-fonds de la Mitteleuropa pour en rapporter les brouillards pragois, la dépression viennoise, l’ambiance décadente des années 30, l’élégance suicidaire d’une avant-garde iconoclaste, les fleurs délétères de la déréliction, l’effroi face à la vie et la provocation face à la mort, ils convoquent sur scène monstres, poètes maudits, amoureux éconduits, prostituées chancelantes et aristocrates de la déglingue avec un art époustouflant de la suggestion et de l’incarnation. Yanowski chante et joue accompagné par Fred Parker et son piano. Dans leur nouveau spectacle, « écrit au fil des tournées et des résidences », ils tâchent de se rapprocher plus encore de l’esprit des cabarets d’antan, non pas en sa caricature vulgaire mais dans sa force politique et poétique consistant à « noyer à coups de cynisme et de textes grinçants et corrosifs la bonne morale des Eglises et l’ignominie des Etats ». Parker et Yanowski choisissent la violence résistante du sublime contre la nostalgie surannée de la joliesse. Leur nouveau spectacle promet, comme les précédents, d’atteindre les limites métaphysiques et suffocantes de l’expérience esthétique !
