Fantastique, fabuleux, magique… Dès qu’il s’agit du Cirque invisible, les mots chahutent sous la plume, pressés d’entrer dans la folle ronde des illusions et de caracoler à qui mieux-mieux dans le registre du merveilleux. Ces verbeux freluquets, même gonflés de superlatifs, sont pourtant bien désarmés… Car ce cirque-là défie souvent l’entendement, enjambant les lisières de la logique, trafiquant sans ambages le corps des apparences, quelques fois démontant même les ressorts d’une jolie chimère pour produire des éclats de rire en pagaille. A peine croît-on voir un lapin géant qu’il a déjà disparu derrière un nuage, qui aussitôt s’évanouit devant un peloton cycliste, qui fonce derechef sur un dragon, qui s’envole à tire d’ailes, qui… Ainsi vogue la vie dans ces confins du réel : au gré du rêve et de la fantaisie.
La poésie rieuse de l’extravagance
Génies de ces métamorphoses à l’infini ? Victoria Chaplin et Jean-Baptiste Thierrée, inséparables depuis ce jour enchanté de 1969 où leurs routes se croisèrent, au hasard d’une providence bien inspirée. D’abord, naquit le Cirque Bonjour, puis le Cirque imaginaire, enfin, le Cirque invisible. Et puis des enfants, Aurélia et James, bourrés de charmes et de talents, qui mènent aujourd’hui leurs propres aventures de scène. Jean-Baptiste Thierrée, clown illusionniste, et Victoria Chaplin, acrobate caméléon, n’ont jamais quitté la piste, toujours près des étoiles. Elle, exquise athlète aux longs cheveux bruns, dompte les mirages avec une grâce d’elfe et fait surgir des plis de son imaginaire tout un bestiaire extravagant. Lui, l’œil rieur sous sa crinière blanche, détourne tours et atours, tirant des gags plein de malice de ses incroyables valises à images. Jouant sans cesse avec les démons et les merveilles de l’inconscient, ces deux-là n’ont pas fini de contrarier les règles qui voudraient bien régir le monde… Et c’est tant mieux !
