Comment l’expression de la féminité se retrouve-t-elle dans les cultures venues d’Asie ? La féminité ici ne s’entend pas comme nous pouvons, en tant que sociétés occidentales, l’investir : la beauté, la sensualité, l’érotisme dont nous la créditons n’ont pas la même valeur ni le même sens de l’autre côté du globe. Le musée du quai Branly s’attache ici à nous montrer divers temps de la vie, du rituel au défilé de mode, du théâtre de marionnettes au spectacle de danse. Le tout dans un voyage qui nous promène en Birmanie, en République de Touva (sud de la Russie) et à Taiwan. Dans les différentes formes proposées, il n’est pas rare de constater que le féminin et le masculin peuvent s’entrelacer et brouiller les identités. Travestissement, maquillage, parures sont parfois l’apanage des hommes. Dans le rituel Nat-Pwe, présenté pour la première fois hors de Birmanie, les médiums se saisissent du corps féminin non pas pour le singer, mais pour s’en approprier les mystères. Quand dans la féminité se situe la nature, on se rapproche du sacré, et ce procédé de transformation d’une identité sexuelle n’a pas l’ambivalence qu’on peut lui supposer chez nous.
La création contemporaine face aux danses traditionnelles
La venue des danses de cours birmanes constitue un grand moment de ce cycle de rencontres. Héritières de siècles de traditions, inspirées par les danses indiennes, on retrouve dans les chorégraphies un art très développé de la posture, et une grande attention portée au travail des jambes, à la rigueur du dos, et à la cambrure des doigts toujours délicatement recourbés. Il est question d’une certaine forme de beauté et de grâce, relevées par des costumes toujours somptueux et richement décorés. Quand la danseuse rencontre le danseur, il s’agit avant tout de célébrer, à travers le couple, l’amour, dans l’idée d’un équilibre total entre part féminine et part masculine de la danse. L’amour est également au centre de la démarche contemporaine portée par Lee Ming-Cheng, chorégraphe de la compagnie taïwanaise Body Expression Dance Theater. Il choisit de reprendre à son compte l’héritage de l’Opéra chinois, nourri de culture traditionnelle et de littérature contemporaine, pour une œuvre reflet de la création chorégraphique d’aujourd’hui.
