L’écrivain, compositeur et metteur en scène Jacques Rebotier ne fait plus mystère, depuis une dizaine d’années déjà, de l’entreprise qui l’occupe, dessiner le portrait de l’homme en cinquante chapitres selon le regard d’une grenouille ou bien d’une libellule. La Description de l’Omme inventorie l’anatomie, la respiration, la parole, le sexe, l’habitat, le mode de locomotion, l’économie et la religion qui font l’homme. L’aventure donne matière à spectacles, parcours, installations, théâtre de rire avec marionnettes et robots, vidéo et acteurs. Le Cycle de l’Omme réunit trois spectacles, La Tragédie de Pluto, De l’Omme et La Revanche du dodo. Ici, c’est le dodo qui mène l’enquête, un volatile massacré sous la fourchette des colons hollandais qui abordèrent l’Ile Maurice en 1598. Le Père Noël lui-même dans De l’Omme prend le pouvoir entre couleurs de fête et de sang. Quant à La Tragédie de Pluto, elle interroge la question de la ploutocratie et du gouvernement par les riches. Et la plutocratie ? Au spectateur de s’amuser de ces rieuses facéties.
