Reprise/Théâtre de Suresnes
Shalom An-Ski, premier ethnographe du monde juif oriental, commença, en 1905, à s’intéresser à son folklore et à en constituer le patient répertoire. Vingt ans plus tard, il écrivit Le Dibbouk, synthèse théâtrale de cette recherche. Dans un décor minimaliste, sur la musique envoûtante d’Aurélien Dumont, seuls quelques accessoires suffisent à camper l’ambiance de la yeshivah et celle du shtetl. Khonen, étudiant exalté et mutique, meurt en apprenant que sa promise, Leye, a été fiancée à un autre. Le jour de son mariage, la jeune fille se refuse à son époux, car son corps est possédé par un dibbouk. L’âme errante de Khonen vient réclamer celle avec laquelle il aurait dû s’unir. Troisième étape du spectacle : le procès où le tsadik Azriel affronte les forces invisibles pour lutter contre cette union monstrueuse entre la vie et la mort. Le théâtre, plus fort que l’amour, se fait alors thaumaturge. Le miracle de la présence, que seuls parviennent à réaliser les comédiens d’exception, est à l’œuvre. De l’ethnographie initiale, répertoriant les modalités spirituelles, on est passé à la démonstration en acte de la puissance mystérieuse des forces de l’esprit. Un éblouissant spectacle.
