Un fils arrivé à l’âge où son père est mort se met à parler de lui, de son père retrouvé étendu sur son lit, sans vie, parce qu’il avait absorbé trop de produits toxiques à l’imprimerie. Dans Le drap, Yves Ravey raconte les derniers mois de ce père issu d’un milieu populaire et qui est allé jusqu’à taire sa maladie par peur du licenciement. Dans une mise en scène de Laurent Fréchuret, Hervé Pierre, sociétaire de la Comédie-Française depuis le 1er janvier, incarne magnifiquement cet homme déchiré par la disparition de son père. Yves Ravey, à la fois auteur de romans et de pièces de théâtre, s’interroge sur les liens entre la mort, l’écriture et son oralisation : « La littérature n’implique-t-elle pas que tous ces morts soient par millions précipités dans la voix de l’acteur ? ». Le théâtre sait parfois donner vie aux fantômes et rendre hommage aux disparus.
