« La scénographie tentera de restituer le parcours ensoleillé et rustique de ce personnage singulier, d’une humanité salutaire. C’est pourquoi j’ai souhaité que cette histoire ne soit pas représentée dans un lieu théâtral traditionnel mais investisse une cour intérieure de lieu porteur d’histoires, celle du Théâtre des Halles. » dit Alain Leempoel, qui adapte le récit initiatique, mêlant fiction et réalité, inspiré à Nadine Monfils par la vie du Facteur Cheval. Le comédien Elliot Jenicot dit le texte pendant qu’à ses côtés, le plasticien Philippe Doutrelepont « évoluera dans l’espace tel son double et travaillera, tout au long du récit, les matières utilisées dans l’évolution du Palais Idéal : la chaux, la pierre, la terre, le bois, etc. » Folie extraordinaire et monument de l’art naïf, le féérique palais de Hauterives surgit des mots et des gestes et redit le pouvoir consolateur de la création.
