d’après Christophe Marlowe / Adaptation Jean-Michel Rabeux et Bruno Geslin / mise en scène et scénographie Bruno Geslin
Théâtre de la démesure, de la violence, de la consumation : les pièces incandescentes de Christopher Marlowe, contemporain de Shakespeare, posent un défi que Bruno Geslin se plaît à relever, en collaboration avec Jean-Michel Rabeux. Emplie de luttes de pouvoir, trahisons et crimes cruels, la pièce Edouard II relate la fin du règne d’Edouard, qui lorsqu’il décide d’accueillir et d’anoblir son amant Pierce Gaveston, fils d’écuyer exilé en France, provoque l’ire des nobles et de la Reine Isabelle. Conte pastoral, drame historique, tragédie de la vengeance, « Edouard II est avant tout une pièce qui se refuse en permanence ». Une pièce révélatrice de la monstruosité humaine, qui s’avance vers le chaos et la destruction, dans un univers trouble, crépusculaire et calciné. Entourée de formidables comédiens, Claude Degliame dans le rôle-titre donne corps à cette sanglante épopée avec maestria.
