« Tu es un artiste hélas, tu ne peux plus te refuser le précipice monstrueux de tes yeux ». Longtemps Angelin Prejlocaj tint cette phrase serrée contre le cœur pour armer son audace face aux doutes de jeunesse. C’est ainsi que Le Funambule de Genet a tendu le fil de sa vocation et l’a guidé sur la voie de la chorégraphie. Plus de trente ans après, ce sont encore les mots brûlants de ce chant d’amour qui l’accompagnaient dans son premier solo. Seul parmi les lambeaux de papiers blanchis par le désir, Angelin Preljocaj dialogue avec le poème comme un funambule avec son fil, en épouse les tensions, les rythmes et les réflexions. Silhouette fantomatique, danseur vieillissant, solitaire, au bord du vertige, il fait vibrer les sons au plus intime du corps. Reprenant ce monologue dansé, il le joue en alternance avec Wilfried Romoli, ex-danseur étoile de l’Opéra national de Paris. « Transmettre permet d’éprouver la résistance de la structure, un peu comme ces maisons qu’on soumet aux séismes. L’arrivée d’un autre interprète enrichit la pièce, fait bouger les marges. ». Ce funambule ne sera donc ni tout à fait le même, ni tout à fait un autre…
