Créé à Marseille en mai 2007, Le Grand Dépaysement d’Alexandre le Grand, conte musical pour douze voix, un percussionniste et deux comédiens jouant en langue des signes, a pris toute sa dimension avec la création, l’an dernier, de sa version scénique à l’issue d’une résidence à l’Abbaye de Fontevraud. Pour cette œuvre qui, comme les autres opus du cycle fait également l’objet d’une édition en livre-disque (paru chez Actes Sud), le compositeur Jean-Christophe Marti (né en 1964) – qui signe également le livret – a travaillé conjointement avec le metteur en scène Philippe Carbonneaux et l’illustrateur Christophe Sawadogo. Adapté d’un texte talmudique, ce récit légendaire des voyages d’Alexandre le Grand est l’occasion d’une expérience singulière puisqu’il est destiné à être accessible à un public de sourds et malentendants : un comédien sourd joue une grande partie du texte en langue des signes, de même qu’un percussionniste une partition visuelle aussi bien que sonore.
