Créé en 2002 par William Christie, le Jardin des voix forme chaque année de jeunes chanteurs à la pratique vocale baroque. On y apprend l’art de l’ornementation, la théâtralité d’un récitatif, les affects du phrasé… Des chanteurs de premier plan, comme Emmanuelle de Negri ou Andreas Wolf, sont passés par cette formation. Pour découvrir les jeunes voix de demain, il ne faut donc pas manquer le concert de la promotion 2012. Sous la direction de Jonathan Cohen, les huit chanteurs, accompagnés par les Arts florissants, interpréteront deux courts opéras baroques : La descente d’Orphée aux enfers de Marc-Antoine Charpentier – un ouvrage malheureusement inachevé – et Venus and Adonis de John Blow, l’un des premiers opéras anglais.
