L’histoire, issue d’une légende allemande, raconte comment un joueur de flûte est venu sauver un village d’une invasion de rats, en les attirant puis les noyant dans la rivière. Chassé sans reconnaissance par les habitants, il reviendra et usera de la même magie pour faire disparaître leurs enfants. Ici, Béatrice Massin s’éloigne du fil narratif et nous a confié s’intéresser « aux différentes physicalités des personnages et aux différents types de population. Le joueur de flûte est comme un Mr Jekyll & Mr Hyde. Il rejoint pour moi l’image de l’étranger qui peut être positive, mais devient négative. » Le montage musical donne la part belle à la flûte, avec Bach, Penderecki… Si la danse, d’inspiration baroque, se fonde notamment sur les jeux collectifs de nos cours de récréation, la scénographie offre elle aussi un jeu d’élastiques. Mais, mouvante, ne deviendra-t-elle pas celle qui emporte les corps ?
