La bicoque chavire méchamment sur la grève. Faut dire que ça cause fort là-dedans. Quel barnum la noce de tantôt ! Entre Mérédick, cloué au lit depuis trois ans pour une sale opération, et Bastien alias Pastille, le récit va bon train : celui de l’imagination tirée dare-dare par les cancans en pelotons serrés. Ce qui n’empêche pas les zigzags en cascades et autres digressions entre l’aspiro en panne de sac, les œufs-coques, les seins du Suzy et quelques flambées de jalousie. Débarquent alors les personnages semés au fil du bavardage. Suzy donc, pétroleuse romantique, Calberson, le vieux jeune marié, Le Mailleur, dragueur magouilleur amateur, Lemahri, tenancier de buvette à la dérive, l’Ingénieur et Nelly, fakirs de cabaret. Et puis Léopold bien sûr, bonne âme en peine et commis d’office plus souvent qu’à son tour. « Y a pas de sot métier, mais y a des fabricants d’andouilles, ça revient kif-kif au même » comme dit Mérédick, velléitaire éternel, sujet aux « montée d’Andrée-Aline ». Tout ce petit monde déglingué vadrouille gaillardement dans la nuit blanche, le cœur en déroute sur la plage et la tête accrochée aux étoiles. Histoire de ne pas sombrer.
Amours et jalousie
Ecrite en 1982 et créée par Chantal Morel en 1988, Le jour se lève, Léopold ! fut la première pièce que Serge Valletti imagina pour d’autres acteurs que lui. L’auteur y saisit à vif le désarroi loufoque de ces personnages fort en gueule, indécrottables abonnés du ratage, cocasses et poignants. Suivant l’élan de la plume, il enfile gags, jeux de mots et quiproquos au gré des pérégrinations nocturnes de la compagnie, qui cabote sans gouvernail au ras de l’existence, secouée de temps à autre par un grand vent de délire. Au risque de rester en rade au début ou de patauger dans l’anecdote. D’autant que la mise en scène colle au texte avec une esthétique qui donne dans la déglingue et le saugrenu. Passés ces prolégomènes un peu touffus, on se laisse emporter par la langue baroque en diable et truculente à souhait, truffée d’entourloupes et de pirouettes verbales. Et on embarque avec ces doux dingues, magnifiquement portés par les comédiens, qui louvoient en funambules entre le burlesque métaphysique et la drôlerie grinçante. « Y a bien que pour mourir que l’expérience sert à rien… Sinon, le reste…. C’est de la quoi ? De la pas grand-chose ! ». L’extravagance est la politesse de leur désespoir.
