Le rire de Molière a traversé les siècles. En 2001, Claude Stratz s’en faisait l’écho, lointain mais toujours puissant, en montant Le Malade imaginaire. Plus de vingt ans et quelques centaines de représentations plus tard, sa mise en scène, entretenue post-mortem par les sociétaires de la Comédie-Française, conserve toute son efficacité et son actualité, accentuant la farce ou la détresse – bien réelle – d’Argan, au gré des reprises et des prises de rôle, sans jamais négliger l’une ou l’autre. C’est à Guillaume Gallienne qu’il revient d’avoir fait traverser à ce Malade les périodes pré et post Covid, avec le rire porté bien haut, mais sans que jamais l’on oublie de quoi l’on rit. Claude Stratz avait commandé une musique originale à Marc-Olivier Dupin : un « baroque imaginaire » non avare de facétie qui garde, vingt-deux ans après, toute sa saveur.
