Sandrine Anglade est encore peu connue des amateurs d’opéra. Ses rares mises en scène d’ouvrages lyriques se sont pourtant révélées aussi originales que pertinentes. A l’Opéra de Tours, elle avait ainsi transposé Cosi fan tutte de Mozart dans l’univers de la télé-réalité et, à Lille, elle avait monté un Tamerlano de Haendel où le public voyait ce qui se passait en coulisses. Loin d’être des gadgets, ces idées scéniques participent à la logique dramatique et au rythme musical. Au Théâtre de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, elle s’atelle au Médecin malgré lui, composé en 1858 par Charles Gounod d’après la pièce éponyme de Molière (un auteur que Sandrine Anglade connaît bien pour avoir notamment mis en scène Monsieur de Pourceaugnac). Les librettistes Jules Barbier et Michel Carré ont adapté avec esprit la pièce en un opéra-comique. Un petit bijou néo-classique, aux mélodies expressives même si parfois un peu désuètes. Cette production de l’Abbaye de Royaumont convoque de jeunes chanteurs (le baryton Olivier Naveau, la soprano Sevan Manoukian, le ténor Olivier Hernandez…) ainsi que l’Orchestre de Picardie sous la baguette de son directeur musical Pascal Verrot.
