NOUVELLE PRODUCTION / OPERA DE SAINT-ETIENNE
Chanteurs, musiciens, décorateurs et costumiers de l’institution se sont réunis autour du Médecin malgré lui de Charles Gounod. Cet hommage musical au grand Molière, troisième opéra de Gounod, n’est quasiment jamais programmé. Sans doute souffre-t-il de l’ombre d’un Faust composé à la même époque. Cette œuvre ne manque pourtant pas de piquant. Dans le livret, Jules Barbier et Michel Carré ont quasiment repris mot à mot le texte de Jean-Baptiste Poquelin. Molière y raconte l’histoire de Lucinde, fausse muette, qui a parfaitement compris qu’en se faisant porter pâle, elle évite un mariage forcé. Elle bénéficiera de la complicité de Sganarelle, faux médecin, impliqué dans cette affaire par la faute de son épouse revancharde. Gounod compose une partition séduisante et pleine d’humour où musique et dialogues parlés se répondent. Une adaptation savoureuse à découvrir dans une version des jeunes chanteurs de l’atelier lyrique proposée par l’Opéra de Saint-Étienne.
