Intelligence, sincérité, engagement sans préjugés : telles sont les caractéristiques de l’œuvre littéraire de Simone de Beauvoir, qui ont conduit Julien Cottereau à mettre en scène le monologue de Murielle. Cloîtrée chez elle lors de la fête du Nouvel An, rejetée par les siens, Murielle se venge en fustigeant sa famille, ses amours, la société et l’humanité entière. Tyrannique et exubérante, taraudée par la solitude et la rancœur, désespérée, drôle et fragile, cette femme rompue a bouleversé la jeune comédienne Fanes Desrues, qui s’en empare avec passion. « Ce monologue est une trace sur le féminisme, su la tolérance, sur la difficulté d’être mère, sur l’amour de soi et des autres », dit-elle. Le son dessine la frontière entre « le monde du dehors », exécré par Murielle, et « le monde du dedans », où s’alimente cette exécration. Dans une combinaison militaire et des chaussures de boxe, la comédienne s’engage corps et âme dans ce combat qui est aussi une tentative de réconciliation avec soi et avec les autres.
