Les mots sont secs. Brutaux. Comme la vie de Mohamed Choukri jusqu’à l’âge de 20 ans. Violence familiale, faim, prostitution, petits boulots… Dans Le Pain nu, premier volet d’une trilogie autobiographique, tout est dit du quotidien du Rif marocain à l’époque où l’auteur y fuit la violence familiale et se retrouve dans la rue. Sans tabous. Ce qui valut au roman d’être interdit au Maroc jusqu’à sa publication officielle en 2000. Séparés par des panneaux de projection, les comédiens d’origine argentine Pablo Delgado et Pablo Contestabile portent simultanément le récit de cette misère de deux points de vue : celui de l’adulte devenu auteur, et celui de l’enfant. Mis en scène par Paula Giusti et accompagnés par le musicien et compositeur Carlos Bernardo, ils disent l’universalité de cette parole qui n’est pas seulement tragique, mais aussi pleine de l’espoir de celui qui a pu s’en sortir. Et écrire un livre désormais considéré comme un classique de la littérature maghrébine.
