« Qu’en est-il aujourd’hui de l’amour, pris dans la confusion de la crise, en proie au doute, confronté au sida ? Comment se manifeste le cheminement des sentiments, l’itinéraire des passions ? » C’est en creusant le sillon de ces points d’interrogation qu’Angelin Preljocaj dessina en 1994 les arcanes de son Parc pour le Ballet de l’Opéra national de Paris. Explorant les méandres de la passion, avec ses voies détournées et ses raccourcis impromptus, le chorégraphe met en scène le petit théâtre des stratégies galantes, des malices séductrices et autres travestissements des cœurs. Dans un jardin aux allées stylisées, hommes et femmes s’adonnent aux délices vénéneux des jeux de l’amour et s’abandonnent au frisson rieur de la musique de Mozart. La danse pourtant finit par trahir la déchirure du désir. Une œuvre décidément d’une modernité intemporelle.
