Enfant, Laurent Gutmann n’aimait pas l’histoire du Petit Poucet. « Ce conte ne me consolait de rien, explique-t-il. L’effroi que je ressentais ne m’aidait pas à grandir. » Sous-titrée Du bienfait des balades en forêt dans l’éducation des enfants, la version du conte que propose aujourd’hui le metteur en scène place un comédien de petite taille (Jean‐Luc Orofino) face à un couple de parents (Jade Collinet et David Gouhier) qui tentent de se persuader que s’ils abandonnent leur fils, c’est pour son bien, pour qu’enfin il grandisse. Conçu non comme une rêverie, mais comme une projection située « au plus près de l’évidence cauchemardesque du récit », ce Petit Poucet théâtral nous confronte aux terreurs de l’enfance : la peur de l’abandon, du meurtre, de la dévoration…
