Son nouvel album – le premier pour le prestigieux label ECM – s’intitule « The Dream Thief ». Pianiste qui se révéla au sein du trio du contrebassiste Avishai Cohen, Shai Maestro s’est depuis ses débuts positionné derrière le clavier comme un narrateur, installant au travers de ses mélodies et de ses disques, des séries de tableaux et d’histoires dont il écrit les développements dans l’instant de l’improvisation. Qu’il se fasse « voleur de rêves » — les siens, les nôtres — en dit long sur l’onirisme qu’il met dans son jeu et dans ses compositions. Inauguré cette saison, le théâtre La Scala Paris ouvre ses portes au trio qu’il forme avec le contrebassiste Jorge Roeder et le batteur Ofri Nehemya, une scène idéale pour développer un imaginaire musical sensible et délicat.
