Le Prophète serait le livre le plus lu après la Bible. Dans ce texte d’une grande poésie, le chrétien libanais Khalil Gibran fait parler le prophète Al-Mustapha qui, avant de quitter la ville d’Orphalèse où il vécut pendant 12 ans, livre au peuple des leçons de sagesse. En découvrant ce classique du XXe siècle, le metteur en scène Francescu Raffaelli se demande comment l’adapter pour la scène : « comment porter la densité spirituelle du texte au spectateur sans en faire un conte pesant ou un discours moralisateur ? » C’est un article sur Gibran qui lui donne la clef grâce à cette phrase : « l’amour est le fil qui a tissé tous ses récits ». Francescu Rafaelli, qui en plus de la mise en scène et de l’interprétation (avec Coraldine Zaïna) signe aussi la traduction et l’adaptation, a donc axé le texte autour de « l’amour de deux êtres en quête d’élévation : un prophète et une devineresse liés par le destin. » Cet hymne à la vie s’accompagne des chorégraphies d’Elise Mautalen et du chant de Marie-Hélene Meauxsoone.
