Quatuor engagé, résolument moderne dans son approche de la musique, le Quatuor Danel est aujourd’hui résident à l’Université de Manchester et travaille dans les studios de l’Ircam à Paris. Très investi dans la pédagogie, il anime le festival de l’Abbaye du Pin, lieu de rencontre avec les jeunes musiciens et ensembles. Les trois journées, intitulées « Matériaux », « Timbres » et « Éclatements », sont ponctuées (à 18h et 21h) par deux concerts réunissant les membres du quatuor et ceux de l’ensemble instrumental MP21. Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Franck mais aussi Messiaen (centenaire oblige !), Sofia Goubaïdoulina, Pascal Dusapin (Quatuor n° 5) sont au programme cette année, ainsi que des œuvres de Peter Swinnen (né en 1965), compositeur en résidence. Débutées à midi à Poitiers par des master-classes, ces journées s’achèvent, tard dans la nuit, avec de festives « nocturnes musicales ».
