NOUVELLE PRODUCTION / OPERA BASTILLE
C’est une entrée attendue au répertoire de l’Opéra. Créé, de manière posthume en 1903 à Bruxelles, Le Roi Arthus n’avait jamais été monté à l’Opéra de Paris – ce qui en dit long sur le conservatisme des programmations. L’unique opéra de Chausson est présenté ce mois-ci à Bastille, nous permettant enfin d’apprécier la musique riche et colorée (du Wagner à la française, pourrait-on être tenté de dire !) du compositeur français, ainsi que le livret, révélant un Moyen-Age sous inspiration romantique. L’Opéra de Paris ne fait pas les choses à moitié, confiant la mise en scène à Graham Vick, généralement à l’aise avec ces ouvrages historiques, et la direction à Philippe Jordan, idoine pour faire la synthèse entre écritures françaises et germaniques. Le casting est plus qu’alléchant : on retrouve notre star Roberto Alagna ainsi que la délicieuse Sophie Koch. Le rôle-titre est tenu par le baryton américain Thomas Hampson.
