Potage ou poulet basquaise ? Loin d’un soupir perplexe face à la débauche poétique qui étoile désormais tout menu, la question est de cruciale urgence. Jugez-en : Carles Magnes, devenu DG de Montjoie Monde, leader planétaire de la coutellerie, est invité à dîner – escorté du conseil d’administration au grand complet – chez son neveu Roland (lui-même haut gradé dans la hiérarchie). Mais dont la traîtresse femme a opté pour la volaille façon basquaise, quand le grand chef ne daigne goûter qu’à la soupe. Tragique inconséquence… Mais de là à tenir 2h40 sur le sujet, même en le chauffant au énième degré sans compter à la dépense d’énergie, voilà qui tient de la performance. S’ensuit en effet un feuilleton en trois épisodes follement épiques de châtiments, trahisons, représailles et autres « gimmicks » guerriers. Le tout émaillé de philosophailleries sur l’individu face au groupe, de saillies contre l’entreprise et ses valeurs breloques, de grandiloquentes envolées, et copieusement arrosé de téquila, d’hémoglobine et de mort aux rats. Faut ce qui faut pour pimenter la farce.
Un jeu athlétique et délirant
Une bande de comédiens bien aguerris s’empare à bras le corps de cette trilogie très librement inspirée de la Chanson de Roland. Du fatal combat du chevalier et de ses fidèles preux contre la puissante armée maure à Roncevaux puis de la vengeance de Charlemagne ne reste qu’une guéguerre arrachée au 11ème siècle et transposée dans l’univers impitoyable entrepreneurial, là où la bataille économique fait rage. « Cela n’a rien à voir avec la Chanson de Roland et en même temps a à voir avec. Tout simplement parce que le projet d’écriture et de travail est né au moment où, avec les comédiens, nous avions décidé de lire ce texte. », explique l’auteur et metteur en scène Hédi Tillette de Clermont-Tonnerre, qui avait signé en 2005 un Marcel B. joyeusement foutraque mais bien intéressant. Ici la satire s’épuise et l’agonie des grands récits s’éternise. La troupe ne manque pourtant pas de nerf, ose l’extravagance et les clichés potaches. Elle va même chercher musiciens et acteurs dans le public (procédé décidément fort à la mode), dont Georges, un vrai faux spectateur, spécialiste du poulet basquaise, véritable héros de la soirée. Malgré le jeu athlétique et délirant, le tragi-comique de cet héroïsme de bazar s’émousse et l’ennui s’installe tranquillement. Enfin sauf pour Georges, qui a l’air de bien s’amuser.
