Le metteur en scène et comédien Ronan Rivière a jeté son dévolu sur un des textes les plus singuliers consacrés à l’auteur du Bourgeois gentilhomme : Le Roman de Monsieur de Molière de Mikaël Boulgakov. Avec un réalisme où se mêlent tendresse et gravité, le biographe dépeint un dramaturge inquiet jusque dans ses plus grands succès. Un Molière fragile, souvent instable. Mais un Molière à l’existence assez passionnante pour être contée sans fioritures, à travers un dispositif proche du théâtre de tréteaux. Unique décor, une charrette permet aux deux comédiens – Ronan Rivière et Michaël Cohen – d’ancrer leur narration à un point aussi brinquebalant que la vie de leur sujet, avec une légèreté facétieuse digne de la commedia dell’arte. Des extraits de pièces de Molière rythment l’ensemble, ainsi que quatre pièces de Lully jouées au piano par Olivier Mazal. Incarnant tantôt Molière et ses contemporains, tantôt le narrateur Boulgakov, les comédiens exécutent avec brio tout au long de la pièce des sauts de près de trois siècles, et l’ensemble permet d’entrer en empathie et en dialogue avec un homme d’un autre temps.
