Le Rouge éternel des coquelicots est le deuxième épisode d’un chantier mené depuis 2013 à partir des conversations avec les habitants des quartiers Nord de Marseille. Interprété par Catherine Germain, le monologue né de ce travail est un hommage à Latifa Tir, dont la vie symbolise l’histoire de Marseille, cette ville dont le seul monument est son peuple. Installé en face du théâtre du Merlan, le snack de Latifa a servi de cantine à François Cervantes, qui a recueilli, entre autres paroles des habitants des quartiers Nord, celles de cette femme dont les parents sont arrivés à Marseille dans les années 50.
A Marseille, ou partout…
« Son snack, c’est l’essentiel, c’est sa vie. », dit l’écrivain et metteur en scène qui a écouté et retranscrit les mots de celle qui en racontant sa vie, narre toutes celles des relégués du « grand Nord » où sont entassés tous ceux qu’on compte pour rien et dont on méprise autant la mémoire que les rêves. Catherine Germain, qui interprétait le rôle de Latifa dans L’Epopée du grand Nord, spectacle qui réunissait plusieurs de ces figures ignorées, le reprend aujourd’hui, et anime de sa magnétique présence ce monologue « qui se détache de son territoire et qui voyage dans l’espace » puisque, remarque François Cervantes, « les quartiers Nord sont partout ».
