Elise Vigier, artiste associée à la MAC, connaît bien la vie de troupe. Elle accompagne en effet le collectif Les Lucioles depuis une vingtaine d’années, avec notamment Marcial di Fonzo Bo qui met en scène avec elle cette pièce du caustique auteur allemand Roland Schimmelpfennig. Une troupe achève la tournée de plus de six ans de sa comédie musicale, Le Royaume des Animaux, pour démarrer un nouveau projet dont elle ne connaît rien, hors le titre, Le Jardin des Choses. Les acteurs ne vont plus représenter des animaux, vivants et mobiles, mais des choses, marchandisées et figées. Une métaphore de la course de notre monde saisie à travers les coulisses d’une troupe, qui « dissèque de manière assez terrible le fonctionnement d’un groupe face au capitalisme marchand ».
