Après Go down, Moses, et Schwanengesang D744, Le Sacre du Printemps clôt le portrait que le Festival d’Automne consacre à Romeo Castellucci*. C’est la force de sidération des images et des séquences qui caractérise ces œuvres, au-delà de la représentation du réel et de la logique : ces images fortes et parfois dérangeantes agissent et questionnent autant les sens que l’esprit, mettent en jeu des émotions archaïques. Face à ces œuvres, le spectateur n’est pas en position interprétative ou contemplative, il est bousculé par la force du poème, par l’étonnante virtuosité et la beauté parfois somptueuse, par une forme d’insistance aussi… Précédé par une œuvre de Scott Gibbons, Le Sacre du Printemps, qui fit scandale lors de sa création voici un siècle, vise à s’inscrire dans notre époque. « C’est une pièce pour les nerfs, pas pour la conscience, » confie le metteur en scène. La chorégraphie est réinventée, atomisée et mise en forme par de la poussière d’os d’animaux, produit fertilisant dans l’agriculture. « A l’époque c’était un choc. Je pense qu’il faut réveiller cet effet de choc. » Une réinvention d’une œuvre majeure.
