NOGENT / JAZZ
Prototype du musicien éclectique et ouvert, le multi-instrumentiste Fred Pallem a abordé la musique en autodidacte, par le rock d’abord avant de découvrir le jazz et d’entrer, un beau jour, en 1996, au Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris par la porte du département « jazz et musiques improvisées ». Compositeur pour la scène (Philippe Decouflé) et le cinéma, mais aussi la chanson (Bernard Lavilliers, Clarika) et la télévision, il crée très tôt dans son parcours professionnel, en 1998, son propre orchestre, Le Sacre du Tympan, instrument explosif de ses projets les plus personnels. Parmi les plus récents, la relecture des partitions d’un discret compositeur de musique pour l’image, lui aussi autodidacte, François de Roubaix (1939-1974), devenu culte depuis qu’on a pu et su déceler en lui, en fouillant des B.O. longtemps oubliées pour être associées à des films confidentiels ou tombés dans l’oubli (à quelques exceptions notables comme Le vieux fusil, qui lui vaudra un César posthume, ou certains films de José Giovanni, son réalisateur le plus fidèle), un pionnier de la musique électro « à la française », attiré par d’audacieux assemblages instrumentaux et trouvailles sonores et doué d’un singulier génie mélodique.
