Le premier de ces moments musicaux rend hommage à un instrument né à Paris, en 1846, de l’imagination d’Adolphe Sax, génial facteur d’instrument belge : le saxophone. Peu utilisé dans le domaine de la musique classique, il est devenu l’un des instruments fétiches du jazz. Lors de ce concert participatif intitulé « Le saxophone fait son numéro », de jeunes musiciens du Conservatoire de Paris interpréteront tour à tour des œuvres classiques dans leur instrumentation initiale puis transcrites pour le saxophone ou plutôt les saxophones… Amusant ! Un mois plus tard dans la même série, Pierre-Michel Durand dirigera la musique du ballet Les Mariés de la Tour Eiffel, œuvre collective de Georges Auric, Arthur Honegger, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc, Germaine Tailleferre, tous membres du groupe des 6, sur un texte de Jean Cocteau conçu en 1921 au lendemain du conflit sanglant de 14-18, comme une critique cinglante de la guerre. Avec les comédiens-récitants de l’ESAD (École supérieure d’art dramatique de Paris) et l’Orchestre symphonique du CRR.
