Sur le mur de la chambre 343 d’un hôtel moscovite, est accroché un tableau. Le client de passage, un ingénieur calme et placide en costume trois-pièces, voit soudain apparaître un hurluberlu, fleur à la boutonnière, cigare aux lèvres et lunettes de soleil sur les yeux… « Mon tableau, c’est moi ! » : le client médusé comprend qu’il est face au peintre de cette œuvre qu’il n’a pas regardée alors qu’il occupe la chambre depuis trois jours… Volubile et sans gêne, le peintre somme son spectateur captif d’entamer avec lui un débat sur l’art, qui tourne bientôt à la confrontation existentielle.
Personnages vidés de leurs rêves
« Fable moderne poétique et grinçante, Le Tableau plonge dans un réalisme fantastique et s’interroge sur la nature de l’art et sur la place de l’homme en notre temps de massification uniformisatrice et de marchandisation meurtrière. », dit Yann Dacosta qui a choisi de mettre en scène ce texte de Victor Slavkine, dramaturge russe contemporain pertinent et fin analyste de notre société et de notre époque. Dans un décor rougeoyant, Stéphane Facco et Vincent Fouquet interprètent ces deux personnages qu’a priori tout sépare et qui vont, par leur rencontre, « violemment prendre conscience de leurs rôles dans cette société qui les a vidés de tous leurs rêves ». Angoisses et certitudes s’affrontent dans un dialogue chauffé à blanc qui emprunte autant à la comédie qu’à la fable philosophique.
