Une chanteuse de tango, Judith Maian, un musicien-comédien à la contrebasse et au bandonéon, Alain Territo, s’emparent d’un répertoire inédit, celui du tango Yiddish. Ils racontent en la chantant, en la jouant, en la dansant, l’histoire d’un métissage aussi improbable que sublime, celui de la langue juive et des airs traditionnels de tango dont les morceaux hybrides sont taillés dans le vif de l’Histoire du XXème siècle. Le spectacle entraîne, selon la ligne narrative originale qui est la sienne, des débuts du tango à sa rencontre avec les quartiers juifs, et traverse diverses étapes et épreuves : l’enfermement dans les ghettos, la survie aux camps de la mort, l’immigration en Amérique et les heures de gloire et de détresse en Amérique du Sud. Mis en scène par Isabelle Starkier, dont la pertinence, l’audace et la qualité de précédentes créations telles que L’Homme dans le plafond ou Le Bal de Kafka ont été largement saluées, ce Tango des étoiles errantes, qui retrace la grande saga du tango yiddish, convoque également (parmi d’autres) des textes d’Albert Londres, Paul Celan et Albert Cohen.
