« La timidité n’est pas de mise en trois endroits : en chaire, à la cour, en amour. » dit le proverbe espagnol qui inspire cette comédie riche en rebondissements. Le rire règne en maître et le drame est sans cesse évité grâce au goût du panache, du plaisir et du jeu dont font preuve des personnages drôles, inventifs et insolents pour se sortir des situations cocasses que provoque le coup de foudre amoureux. Le Duc d’Aveiro a deux filles à marier. Libres et fantasques, Magdaléna et Séraphina, acoquinées à leur cousine Juana, sont faites pour inspirer l’amour et mènent avec entrain la danse des attachements. Gwenhaël de Gouvello a choisi une mise en scène contemporaine pour faire évoluer les héros de ces rocambolesques démêlés entre la timidité et la passion, en transposant le palais et la cour dans une usine de confection de costumes de théâtre. Petites mains et maîtres d’ouvrages s’emparent des vêtements qu’ils fabriquent pour conter l’histoire du timide et des délurées ! Avec la volonté de rendre « un hommage poétique au métier de la confection » et de décortiquer la mécanique du rire, les membres de la Compagnie du Catogan réussissent un spectacle plein de souffle et de dynamisme.
