Début 2017, le jeune pianiste français d’origine grecque Antoine Karacostas signait avec « Trails » (chez Parallel Records) son premier album en tant que leader, à la tête d’un trio composé de Simon Bernier à la batterie et Anders Ulrich à la contrebasse. « Depuis les deÏbuts du groupe en 2014, nous avons pris le temps de laisser notre reÏpertoire mûrir. Le groupe offre un jazz singulier au lyrisme entêtant, mêlant les influences du jazz moderne de New-York et du Moyen-Orient aà celles de la musique grecque traditionnelle… », explique-t-il. Une musique voyageuse et méditerranéenne, discrètement imprégnée de souvenirs et de parfums d’ailleurs, qui a logiquement séduit Jean-Marie Machado, programmateur des concerts du Centre des Bords de Marne. Autre rencontre, autres ailleurs : l’harmoniciste réunionnais (de lointaine origine bretonne) Olivier Ker Ourio poursuit son dialogue avec le pianiste Manuel Rocheman, enfant du jazz et de Ravel, mais aussi amoureux du Brésil et de l’Océan Indien, dans un dialogue libre et inclassable où il est beaucoup question de Bill Evans et de Toots Thielemans, glorieux aînés toujours inspirants…
