Considéré comme l’un des dignes héritiers de cette longue tradition qui, de Clifford Brown à Woody Shaw en passant par Miles Davis, a marqué la lignée de la trompette dans le jazz, Jeremy Pelt allie le brio du phrasé avec la profondeur de l’inspiration harmonique, tout en cultivant une constante exigence d’inspiration et une sonorité de toute beauté. On ne connait pas le pedigree de tous les musiciens qui constitueront son quintet pour ces deux soirs au Sunside, mais nul doute qu’il a encore déniché quelques redoutables nouveaux talents issus du vivier new-yorkais. C’est ce qu’on appelle une valeur sûre.
