Une délégation de personnalités européennes en partance pour assister au Sacre de Charles X se trouvent bloquées et attendent leurs bagages à l’auberge du Lys d’or… Un huis clos propice à libérer le sens du délire et le regard amusé et désabusé du compositeur sur une société « en concentré ». L’ouvrage est pourtant avant tout un hymne au chant et à la fantaisie qui impose aux chanteurs virtuosité et adaptabilité. Cette large co-production (qui associe de nombreuses maisons d’opéras françaises : Avignon, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Vichy, Marseille, Montpellier, etc…) est initiée par le Centre Français de Promotion Lyrique. Sa mise en scène est confiée à Nicola Berloffa et sa direction musicale à Luciano Acocella. Avec l’Ochestre National d’Île-de-France, le Choeur de l’Opéra Théâtre d’Avignon et des Pays de Vaucluse et, en solistes, les jeunes voix de Hye Myung Kang , Kleopatra Nasiou, Elena Gorshunova, Oxana Shilova, James Elliott, Jud Perry, etc…
